Alastair McIntosh is a founding trustee of the Isle of Eigg Trust for land restitution and a fellow of the now-independent academic network, the Centre for Human Ecology. The Centre was axed by Edinburgh University last year after what the New Scientist described as upholding "a tradition of fearless enquiry" over matters like land rights, sustainable forestry, organic agriculture and in condemning the commercialisation, militarisation and colonisation of knowledge of the British government's 1992 science white paper.
