Don’t Break the Sacred Heartland of the Wiradjuri Nation…Protect Lake Cowal
National Parks & Wildlife Service must not issue a Consent to Destroy to Barrick Gold. A Consent to Destroy would allow Barrick Gold to destroy Aboriginal artefacts and sites at Lake Cowal. This is part of their plan to develop an open- pit cyanide leach gold mine at the largest inland lake in New South Wales. Lake Cowal is part of a precious wetland system and is the "Sacred Heartland of the Wiradjuri Nation" with many cultural objects and threatened species that have been protected for thousands of years by Wiradjuri.

Please do not issue a Consent to Destroy that will allow Barrick Gold to destory the Aboriginal Site including Aboriginal artefacts, scar trees and cultural items.Barrick Gold's plans for an open pit cyanide leach Gold Mine at Lake Cowal should go no further. Lake Cowal is the Sacred Heartland of the Wiradjuri Nation and needs to be protected.
