Economy/Ecology...
"Q - Are you saying that people should be prepared to put the economy on the backburner for this?
JT - The economy is on the backburner. People wouldn't be putting it on the backburner. The economy is on the backburner as an agenda for all of us. I mean if you value everything by the economy then our mood swings would be ridiculous wouldn't they? It would be like being a stockbroker. You don't involve yourself in that way I wouldn't think, do you? Do you think people do?
Q- Most people seem to vote on economic issues, yeah.
JT - Oh, I don't know that they do vote solely on economic issues. That is what some people would like to believe but they also vote on what are called 'motherhood issues' and that's another area that's sort of manipulated in political rhetoric... the hospitals, the kids, the so-called 'motherhood issues'. And there's no doubt that the environment is an extremely 'motherhood issue', because it's about your children's future, it's about the future of all of us. You can't get more motherhood than that. "
